If you are standing in the first floor lobby's territorial-era display, you will want to take the southeast hall to the next stop, the Willis R. Brewer Room, located in room 103. Dr. Brewer was the third dean of the College of Pharmacy, serving between 1952 and 1975. This unique room is filled with a variety of pharmacy artifacts spanning more than 100 years of history. The elaborate glass and cherry wood display cabinets lining the walls were originally used in the Hoffman Pharmacy on the south side of Chicago. Built in the 1920s, these cases contain mirrors, leaded glass, and dozens of drawers. The Brewer room is laid out like an old-time pharmacy. The checkered tile floor echoes retail pharmacies of the late-19th and early-20th centuries. In those days there might have been a soda fountain, vibrant show globes, and, of course, a friendly pharmacist behind the counter.
